Transgender and nonbinary runner Nikki Hiltz qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, clocking in a time of 3:55:33 in the women’s 1500m race at the US Olympic Trials Sunday: breaking Elle St. Pierre’s trials record of 3:58.03, set in 2021. Hiltz is not the first transgender non-binary person to compete at an Olympics  —Canadian football player Quinn, who competed at Tokyo 2020, was the first openly transgender and nonbinary athlete to participate and win a medal at the Games. 

Shilese Jones withdrew from the US Olympic gymnastics trials on Saturday, a day after she injured her left knee on a warm-up vault and had to opt out of three apparatus. Jones, a world championships bronze medallist last year, landed awkwardly on the vault shortly before competition began and limped off with the help of her coach.

Three-time world champion Grant Holloway punched his ticket to the Paris Olympics on Friday in the 110m hurdles at the US trials, while Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson cruised into the 200m finals. Holloway won the 110 hurdles final in 12.86secs, the fastest time in the world this year, with Freddie Crittenden second in a personal best 12.93 and Daniel Roberts third in a personal best 12.96.

Seven-time gold medalist, Katie Ledecky won the women’s 400m freestyle Saturday at the 2024 US Olympic swimming trials finals, clinching a spot on Team USA for the fourth time. The only swimmer to have a sub-4-minute time coming into the prelims, she clocked in at 3:58, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Pan American Games record-holder Paige Madden —who did not qualify for the Olympic team.

The schedule for next year's United States Olympic Team Trials in swimming has been revealed, with events set to be held over nine days and 17 sessions from June 15 to 23 2024 in Indianapolis.
