Last stop on the Olympic Qualifier Series begins Thursday in Budapest

The second and final stop of the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) begins this Thursday in Budapest with over 460 athletes competing to qualify for a spot in the Paris Olympics. The OQS is the International Olympic Committee’s new multi-sport festival-style series to determine which athletes will go on to represent their respective countries in BMX freestyle, breaking, climbing and skate. Its inaugural four-day event in Shanghai was attended by 45,000 spectators, including the IOC’s president, Thomas Bach, who praised the event’s organisers

Eight Olympic spots were up for grabs in the women’s individual recurve event at the Final Olympic Qualifier in Antalya, Türkiye and seven countries — Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine— gained their first women's quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the final spot to be decided via world ranking.

Andy Murray uncertain to play in fifth Olympics despite selection

Andy Murray said Sunday he was "not 100 per cent sure" he will play at the Paris Olympics despite being selected just hours earlier for his fifth Games. Murray, who has said he intends to retire later this year, was granted an International Tennis Federation (ITF) place to compete at the Games despite his lowly singles ranking of 97 because he is a former Grand Slam winner and double-Olympic champion.
