International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach hailed the inaugural Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) a benchmark for future Olympic Qualifiers as he made his closing remarks on the last day of the event, which ran from 16-19 May.

The Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) concluded yesterday with the world's top freestyle BMX riders, B-Boys and B-Girls, skateboarders, and sport climbers vying for a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. 464 participants from 120 national federations gathered at Shanghai’s Huangpu Riverside Urban Park 16-19 May in the first of a two-part festival-style series.

During the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach visited China, accompanied by IOC Members Yu Zaiqing, Li Lingwei, and Zhang Hong, along with IOC Vice President Ser Miang Ng.

Last weekend, Italy’s capital welcomed back reigning Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs who beat Ali Chituru with a season’s best time of 10.07 seconds at this weekend’s Sprint Festival. Chituru followed in second clocking 10.11 with Matteo Melluzzo finishing third with a personal best of 10.13.
