Ecuador's Brian Pintado and China's Jiayu Yang, who finished 12th in Tokyo three years ago, both won gold medals at Paris 2024 as athletics kicked off in the French capital on Thursday. The men's and women's 20km race walks started and finished at the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris, and included other sights of the city.
