World Athletics Heritage and Museum of World Athletics (MOWA) is celebrating Paris 2024 by showcasing a selection of competition artefacts from the MOWA Olympic Athletics Collection, which have been worn or used in the Olympic Games. Shilese Jones withdrew from the US Olympic gymnastics trials on Saturday, a day after she injured her left knee on a warm-up vault and had to opt out of three apparatus. Jones, a world championships bronze medallist last year, landed awkwardly on the vault shortly before competition began and limped off with the help of her coach.

Two-time reigning world 200m champion Shericka Jackson delivered the fastest time in Saturday's qualifying heats in the event at the Jamaican Olympic trials. A day after winning the 100m crown to qualify for the Paris Olympics, Jackson had the best heat time in season-best 22.67secs (-0.9 m/sec wind) at the national stadium in Kingston. Jackson is a major favourite to win the 200 final on Sunday.

Three-time world champion Grant Holloway punched his ticket to the Paris Olympics on Friday in the 110m hurdles at the US trials, while Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson cruised into the 200m finals. Holloway won the 110 hurdles final in 12.86secs, the fastest time in the world this year, with Freddie Crittenden second in a personal best 12.93 and Daniel Roberts third in a personal best 12.96.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) authorised six Russians and two more Belarusians to participate in the Paris Olympic Games raising the total count to 47, according to a third list expanded to judo and canoeing. The IOC published the initial list on 15 June and expanded it on Thursday with 39 athletes in tennis, shooting and rowing.

Malaysian officials agreed Friday to redesign some of the country's kit for next month's Paris Olympics after fans derided the outfits as "ugly" and "cheap looking". Controversy erupted when the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) unveiled the gold-themed outfits featuring a tiger-stripe design last weekend.

An army of artisans is racing to complete thousands of costumes for the Paris Olympics ceremonies that the designers say will each be a unique combination of history, sport and flamboyance. At a workshop in Seine-Saint-Denis on the outskirts of the French capital, some 20 costume designers and milliners were hunched over their creations during a recent visit by Agence France-Presse.
