From 1 July 2024, around 86,000 German sports clubs can apply for the "Stars of Sport" 2025 award, which is jointly organised by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken. They can enter their initiatives in the areas of education and qualification, health and prevention, integration and inclusion, climate protection, digitalisation or democracy promotion.

The 2025 World Mixed Doubles and World Senior Curling Championships will be held at the Willie O'Ree Place in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada from 26 April to 3 May. The Olympic Torch Relay continued through eastern France with a distinctly European flavour. The Olympic Torch lit up the Doubs département to showcase this green corner of the world, an ideal destination for a break from the daily grind, but also to pay tribute to the athletes who work hard every day to keep the department moving. The highlight was the Para-Triathlon Team Relay with 113 Torchbearers, from the first, Sébastien Loeb, to the last, biathlete Anaïs Bescond, who lit the cauldron in Besançon.

The European Senior Fencing Championships have come to an end, with 12 individual and team events for men and women in the disciplines of epee, foil and sabre. The event took place in the St. Jakobshalle, with fencers from 38 countries taking part.

China's women and South Africa's men teams secured the twelfth and final places to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Rugby Sevens by winning the World Rugby Sevens Repechage in Monaco on Sunday.

To celebrate Olympic Day on 23rd June 2024 and the centenary of the first Winter Olympics, the Torch Relay lit up Haute-Savoie. The first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in 1924, so it was a fitting tribute to return 100 years later with the Torch.

On the Olympic Day (23 June 2024), which coincides with the centenary of the first Winter Olympics (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc 192), the Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay set off to light up the Haute-Savoie region for a historic and symbolic day.
