The competition will take place in four venues: Valencia (Spain), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Athens (Greece) and Riga (Latvia). A leg injury forced the champion to withdraw from the European Championships in Rome as a precaution. She has already qualified for the Olympics, so she doesn't have the same pressure as some of her teammates. This will be the British athlete's fourth opportunity to win an Olympic medal, having withdrawn from Tokyo 2020 due to injury.

IBA President Umar Kremlev met with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and agreed to the organisation of a sporting event that would showcase some of the country's young talent. The IBA also pledged to support the grassroots of national boxing by improving facilities and providing equipment to facilitate training.
