Internationally renowned choreographer Alexander Ekman has been selected as Stage and Choreography Director of the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 that will see thousands of Para athletes from 180 international delegations parade down the legendary Avenue des Champs-Elysées to the Place de la Concorde on 28 August. Thomas Jolly, artistic director of the ceremonies, has brought in the Swedish choreographer to shake up the traditions of the event and Ekman has chosen to place dance at the heart of the show.

World Athletics Heritage and Museum of World Athletics (MOWA) is celebrating Paris 2024 by showcasing a selection of competition artefacts from the MOWA Olympic Athletics Collection, which have been worn or used in the Olympic Games. The “Paris 1924 to Paris 2024” collection will be on display during the fortnight of the Games in the centre of Paris a the Westin Paris – Vendome.

Transgender runner Nikki Hiltz qualifies for Olympics with record-breaking 1500m time

Transgender and nonbinary runner Nikki Hiltz qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, clocking in a time of 3:55:33 in the women’s 1500m race at the US Olympic Trials Sunday: breaking Elle St. Pierre’s trials record of 3:58.03, set in 2021. Hiltz is not the first transgender non-binary person to compete at an Olympics  —Canadian football player Quinn, who competed at Tokyo 2020, was the first openly transgender and nonbinary athlete to participate and win a medal at the Games.
