December was an important month for the World Taekwondo, as six athletes from each of the eight weight categories booked their places for Paris 2024.

On 7 December, a court in Rio de Janeiro dismissed Ednaldo Rodrigues as president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and appointed José Perdiz as interim president. Both organisations consider this to be "external interference", which is not allowed under their internal regulations, and are considering suspending the CBF from all competitions.

The 2026 Asian Para Games (AINAGOC) have unveiled their logo, which will bear the slogan 'Imagine One Heart.' This emblem will be used at the Games, which will be held in the city of Nagoya, Japan, from 18-24 October 2026.
