There are just nine days to go until the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) 2024 Pan American Championships kick off on 5 July in Rosario, Argentina.

Endurance athlete Ross Edgley has announced he has completed a record-breaking continuous river swim: completing 510km without stopping, sleeping or touching land for over 62 hours in the freezing waters of the Yukon River in Canada. Edgely began the challenge in Whitehorse on Lake Laberge on Sunday 16th June, and finished in Dawson City on 19th June.

Reigning women's Olympic 800 metres champion Athing Mu will not defend her title at next month's Paris Games after suffering a dramatic fall at the US trials in Eugene, Oregon.

Kazakhstan joined in the worldwide Olympic Day celebrations by highlighting the core values of the Olympic Movement. The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan began the festivities with its traditional "Olympian is Born" campaign by welcoming all newborns over the country, who it is believed, are future champions.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has reported that the IOC, through its respective NOCs, is interfering in the activities of the federations with the threat of "funding cuts as a result of their affiliation to the International Boxing Association". The IBA adds that it will "take appropriate action".

In light of the ongoing scandal involving 23 Chinese swimmers being allowed to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Games even after testing positive for trimetazidine, Global Athlete has sent out an open letter to the World Anti-Doping Agency stating their mistrust in the organisation and requesting transparency on the investigations taken on the swimmers’ case and actions to be taken going forward to ensure a fair playing field for all athletes. 

Jibril Rajoub, the president of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, is calling for Israel to be banned from the 2024 Paris Olympics over the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. Rajoub highlighted to Deutsche Welle examples of how he said Israel had broken the Olympic Charter: the set of rules governing the Olympic Games.

The IBA Board of Directors has given the green light to the members of the newly established Professional Boxing Committee for 2023. Ten of the 27 proposals were approved and will now undergo a review process before the final decision is announced.
