Olympic Torch Stage 40: Nature, heritage and illustrious champions in the Doubs

The Olympic Torch lit up the Doubs département to showcase this green corner of the world, an ideal destination for a break from the daily grind, but also to pay tribute to the athletes who work hard every day to keep the department moving. The highlight was the Para-Triathlon Team Relay with 113 Torchbearers, from the first, Sébastien Loeb, to the last, biathlete Anaïs Bescond, who lit the cauldron in Besançon.

Ross Edgley completes world’s longest non-stop river swim

Endurance athlete Ross Edgley has announced he has completed a record-breaking continuous river swim: completing 510km without stopping, sleeping or touching land for over 62 hours in the freezing waters of the Yukon River in Canada. Edgely began the challenge in Whitehorse on Lake Laberge on Sunday 16th June, and finished in Dawson City on 19th June.

Global Athlete's open letter to WADA on Chinese swimmers' case

In light of the ongoing scandal involving 23 Chinese swimmers being allowed to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Games even after testing positive for trimetazidine, Global Athlete has sent out an open letter to the World Anti-Doping Agency stating their mistrust in the organisation and requesting transparency on the investigations taken on the swimmers’ case and actions to be taken going forward to ensure a fair playing field for all athletes.
