IPC Swimming World Championships open in Eindhoven

August 14 - The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships started with a colourful Opening Ceremony in Eindhoven tonight with a variety of presenters and performers in action to entertain the crowd inside the magnificent Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium.



Top Korean diplomat given key role by Pyeongchang 2018

August 13 - Yang Chun Park (pictured right), a former high-ranking diplomat and now the the chairman of the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC), has been appointed as secretary general for international relations by Pyeongchang's bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, they announced today.




Gay lights up Palace on cold, grey day

August 13 - Just a week after earning his first victory over Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay followed up tonight by running the world’s fastest 100 metres time this year of 9.78sec - despite cold, damp and grey conditions which were the last thing any sprinter would want.


Singapore bring Youth Olympics to life with spectacular victory

August 13 - The majestic Mahaimin Suhaimi sparked the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games to life with a spectacular display in the opening boy’s football match of the Games as he dazzled the crowd and scored two outstanding goals to give Singapore a 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe and send the home crowd into a frenzy here tonight. 



Weir beaten by Hug at Crystal Palace

August 13 - Double Beijing 2008 Paralympic champion David Weir was narrowly beaten by young rival Marcel Hug of Switzerland in a thrilling 1500 metres T54 race on a cold, grey evening at the Aviva London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace tonight.
