Disgraced shot putters vow to return

July 20 - Kieran Kelly (pictured) and Jamie Stevenson, the British shot putters banned for two years after refusing to take drugs tests, have vowed to return to the sport when their suspensions end in 2012.







Pendleton joins exodus from Commonwealth Games

July 19 - Olympic and world cycling champion Victoria Pendleton has joined Usain Bolt and Sir Chris Hoy in pulling out of this year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, another serious blow to organisers growing increasingly frustrated at having invested hundreds of millions of pounds on building facilites that look increasingly likely to play host to a second-rate competition.







Iran and China lift World Sitting Volleyball Championships

July 18 - Reigning Paralympic champions Iran claimed victory in the men’s competition at the World Sitting Volleyball Championships at the University of Central Oklahoma with a five sets victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina while China won the women’s gold after defeating hosts United States in the final.
