May 5 - Fox Sports has promised to make a "strong bid" for the United States television rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics even though the broadcaster's owner Rupert Murdoch claimed last year that he would not be interested in them if Chicago was not awarded the Games.

May 4 - India's Government have been warned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to respect the autonomy of the country's sports federations or risk facing sanctions, including being banned from the London 2012 Olympics, which would deny shooter Abhinav Bindra (pictured) the opportunity of defending the title he won in Beijing.
