Fasulo to leave USOC as California office closed

April 5- Scott Blackmun, the new chief executive of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), has demonstrated his determination to take personal responsibility for rebuilding America's reputation within the Olympic Movement by closing the organisation's office in California and allowing Robert Fasulo (pictured) to step down as head of international relations.

April 5 - FIFA have refused to back down in the row over Iran women's football team being banned from wearing the hijab at the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore later this year and have announced that Thailand will replace them in the tournament.



Verbruggen launches Combat Games in Beijing

April 5 - SportAccord is to launch a new event showcasing 13 marital arts and combat sports, including the four disciplines that are part of the Olympics, in Beijing later this year that will be organised by officials involved in organising the 2008 Games, it has been announced.






James hits back at Colangelo criticism

April 4 - LeBron James, who captained the United States to the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, has hit back at claims by USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo that he will put his place for London 2012 at risk if he decides to miss this year's World Championships in Turkey.


Countries playing futsal set to increase after seminar

April 3 - The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) have announced that following the success of coaching and refereeing seminars about blind futsal which were recently held in Hungary, the organisation hopes to welcome at least six new countries to its international competitions in the near future.
