October 17 - Mike Fennell (pictured), the President of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), has backed his under-fire chief executive Mike Hooper and warned Indian officials that getting rid of him now could have catastrophic consequences for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

England go down 4-1 to Japan at Bath

October 16 - Japan beat England 4-1 at the University of Bath, with the home team's only victory coming in the opening contest of the evening, when 2004 Olympic silver medallist Nathan Robertson (pictured) and partner Jenny Wallwork won the mixed doubles.
