French Olympic surfer, Vahine Fierro, became the first Frenchwoman to win the women’s Tahiti Pro on the waves of Teahupo'o this Wednesday, just two months before the Olympic surfing events to be held on the French Pacific island.

The Leader of French Polynesia, Moetai Brotherson, announced that the construction of the controversial tower in Teahupo'o, Tahiti,, intended for use by judges during the surfing competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is progressing well and that the Polynesians have accepted the proposed solution.

The Polynesian Government, Paris 2024, and the Haut-Commissariat have been studying all possible options to improve the project in recent weeks, with a particular focus on the installation of a new judges' tower and its foundations for the organisation of the Olympic Games surfing events and other competitions in the focus.

French Polynesian President Moetai Brotherson has sympathised with protestors who have expressed concern over a planned new judging tower for surfing at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and claimed he would have chosen a different site had he been in power when a decision was made.

The Oceania Boxing Confederation (OCBC) affiliated to the International Boxing Association (IBA) has claimed the National Federation from French Polynesia which has joined World Boxing is a "sleeping organisation" with no ties to its own "authentic boxing federation".
