French Polynesia - new member of FISU Oceania

The Pacific nation of French Polynesia became the newest member of FISU Oceania on 26 April 2024. Formally ratified by the FISU Oceania Executive Committee, the Union du Sport Universitaire Polynesien was welcomed as an Associate Member of FISU Oceania.

In line with its vision of "Games Wide Open," Paris 2024 was delighted to work with the Torch Relay's Presenting Partners, Coca-Cola and Banque Populaire & Caisse d'Epargne, to involve as many French people as possible in the Torch Relay. By taking the flame to six overseas territories, the Relay across the Oceans will also prepare French people from all over the world to celebrate the Games.

The Polynesian Government, Paris 2024, and the Haut-Commissariat have been studying all possible options to improve the project in recent weeks, with a particular focus on the installation of a new judges' tower and its foundations for the organisation of the Olympic Games surfing events and other competitions in the focus.
