Three-time world champion Grant Holloway punched his ticket to the Paris Olympics on Friday in the 110m hurdles at the US trials, while Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson cruised into the 200m finals. Holloway won the 110 hurdles final in 12.86secs, the fastest time in the world this year, with Freddie Crittenden second in a personal best 12.93 and Daniel Roberts third in a personal best 12.96.

Olympic champion Noah Lyles claimed the 150m title at the Atlanta City Games last Saturday, clocking a 14.41 seconds. While Lyles failed to break Usain Bolt’s world record, he equalled Tyson Gay’s American best, set in 2010— tying him for the fastest American man in history. 

American Rai Benjamin won the men's 400m hurdles in a world-leading 46.64 seconds at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix on Saturday as Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone posted an impressive 200m victory, Agence France-Presse reported Saturday. 

Among the innovations at the Hayward Field venue that has been re-built to host the Oregon22 World Athletics Championships that start on Friday (July 15) is a 10-storey tower which pays tribute to five track and field legends from the neighbouring University of Oregon.

USA Track and Field (USATF) has become the latest body to call for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to be postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
