Over 40 athletes competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have tested positive for Covid-19 emphasising a new global rise in cases, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Britain's Alex Yee was crowned Olympic champion in the men's triathlon on Wednesday after the event was postponed on Tuesday due to pollution in the Seine.

Paris 2024 Olympics organisers have cancelled the press conference discussing the opening ceremony less than 20 minutes before it was set to begin.
