German tennis star Alexander Zverev failed to appear in court last Friday as his trial for alleged assault by an ex-girlfriend began in Berlin. Zverev is accused of "briefly choking" her. He was fined €450,000 ($487,000) but is appealing the decision. A year after the alleged incident, the complaint was filed.

A ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel, attended by QOC President H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, celebrated nearly five decades of progress and achievement. Special recognition was given to Mohamed Suleiman, Qatar's first Olympic medallist, who won bronze in the 1,500 metres at Barcelona '92.

The organising committee of the Global Summit for Palestine, initiated by the European Muslim Forum (EMF), has called for the resignation of Thomas Bach and accused the IOC of 'double standards'. Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Richard Carapaz will not defend his title in Paris after the Ecuadorian Cycling Federation (FEC) chose Jhonathan Narváez for the country's sole road race spot. Carapaz slammed the selection criteria as "biased and lacking the principles of fairness and sporting equality".

World Baseball Classic Inc. has unveiled the venues for the upcoming sixth edition of the global baseball tournament scheduled for March 2026.
