Skye Blakely out of US Olympic Team trials with injury

Skye Blakely is missing this week’s Olympic Trials after rupturing her right Achilles on Wednesday during practice. The 19-year-old top contender sustained the injury while practising a tumbling pass on floor exercise at the trial’s venue in Minneapolis. Blakely received medical attention and was later carried off the podium by staff, leaving the arena in a wheelchair.

Endurance athlete Ross Edgley has announced he has completed a record-breaking continuous river swim: completing 510km without stopping, sleeping or touching land for over 62 hours in the freezing waters of the Yukon River in Canada. Edgely began the challenge in Whitehorse on Lake Laberge on Sunday 16th June, and finished in Dawson City on 19th June.

Last stop on the Olympic Qualifier Series begins Thursday in Budapest

The second and final stop of the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) begins this Thursday in Budapest with over 460 athletes competing to qualify for a spot in the Paris Olympics. The OQS is the International Olympic Committee’s new multi-sport festival-style series to determine which athletes will go on to represent their respective countries in BMX freestyle, breaking, climbing and skate. Matt Richards tells IOC to "take care of their athletes" after ticketing scam

Olympic freestyle gold medallist Matt Richards has urged the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to take better care of athletes competing at the Games and their families after his parents fell victim to an online ticketing scam. Richards' mother Amanda has told the BBC that the family had been scammed out of £2,500 pounds (€2,955 euros) by a ticket website that "looked perfectly legitimate”. The swimmer has called out the IOC and its President for not providing competitor’s families with better access to tickets.
